Aemond didn't say anything for a moment. He had listened to her vent, allowing her to ramble on. She might've not said a lot in reality but she said a lot for not usually saying much at all, especially with such emotion. Aemond understood all that she had said and all that she had not.

"Does mother know about Aegon's...inability?" He asked placing his words carefully. A smirk curled unnoticeably on the corner of his mouth. 

"No," she said with a shake of her head. "I've only come to the conclusion recently." 

"And are you sure it's him?" Aemond wondered gently, not wanting to offend her. "Only him, rather?"

"Yes. Believe me, Aemond, the maesters have made sure. Mother has hounded me to make sure I don't have the inability." Helaena said. 

"What is to become of the situation then? What will you do if you cannot have Aegon's babes? What will become of your marriage? How will he ever have an heir?" Aemond asked all at once.

Helaena sighed and shook her head, "How am I to know for sure? Even I can't see everything, Aemond." 

"Do you even want children, Helaena?" Aemond asked. "It seems like it's always the topic of conversation surrounding you and yet I've never heard your feelings towards any of it." 

"I do want children." She answered softly. "It was the only good thing I thought could come from marrying." 

"I should have married you," Aemond muttered as he looked towards the window. "I should be heir, too. Not Aegon. He is unfit to handle everything he's been so recklessly given." 

"I...agree with both statements," Helaena said just loud enough so he could hear her.

"Bare my children then, Helaena."
