It's been three months since her sister died, and Emerson Peters has been fighting for air ever since. After moving to a new town to get a fresh start, her dad becomes coach of the boys soccer team at her new school. Although she's sworn off playing again, she pushes her one and only friend there, Clay, to join the team. After a rocky meeting in the school hallways with Harlan Mass, a friend of Clays, an unlikely series of events causes the irritable new girl, and the bubbly, overbearing soccer boy to keep ending up in close quarters. Through perseverance and rocky interactions, this story navigates the trials and tribulations of Emerson and Harlan.
