The Mikaelsons and the Scooby Gang get along now with Elena out of the picture. One day Caroline stumbles on a picture of a beautiful young woman who looks a bit like the Mikalesons. When she asks the siblings Elijah tells her and the rest of the gang that the woman is their true mother, Eliana Nanna Mikaleson. She was the abused wife of Mikael and she protected her children with great fierceness. When Mikael learned from Esther that Ellie was going to leave him with the children he and Esther devised a plan. They turned the kids into the first vampires and expected them to forget Eliana and kill her. When they didn't Mikael killed her in front of the kids.
