"Mira could feel it now, the pit in her stomach and the tightness of her throat. She no longer had a distraction from thoughts about Daniel. He was always a good cook, far better than Mira, which is one reason their relationship ended about a week ago. Daniel lived near the salon she worked at, a twenty-minute drive from her apartment without traffic.
