No one believes in ghosts anymore, or bad luck, or Death, or curses at all. But the Way family does.
After Elena Lee Rush had the misfortune of meeting Death, a grim curse was cast upon future generations. Their greatest fear will bring them, one by one, a tragic and painful death. Donald Way met his end in the cold depths of the water, Mikey Way is deathly afraid of the dark, and Donna Way is scared to the bone of losing her sons.
Gerard Way doesn't know yet what his greatest fear is, and he doesn't even know if he wants to find out. Appaled by the mere thought, he ends up avoiding everything: beaches, class trips, zoos, porcelain dolls with glass eyes, frogs, snakes, anything that could make him lose his mind. He writes down all his supposed fears in his diary, and with every passing year the list grows.
And catastrophe seems to follow him at every step.
A cold and rainy September afternoon. A subway station. That day, Gerard didn't just lose a mobile phone, a pack of cigarettes and a borrowed book. He lost his diary, and his list of fears.
And the thief is willing to help Gerard break the curse laid on his family years ago, for the corect price.
