Xisuma didn't really pay any mind to the ding, as it was common for the hermits to chat using the comms system. It's the sudden flood of messages afterwards that startled the admin greatly. As he doesnt want his family hurt his plan was to ban it and be over and done with it but when he gets to the spot were it landed and he seen how hurt it already was he couldnt bring himself to do that.
