Filet de Loup de Mer

Poems featured are a series of fish poetry being written to accompany a set of Japanese style 'Gyotaku' fish prints being created as an experiment using squid ink on rice paper. All poems attempt to reference both popular culinary terms and species names, as well as the more obscure and poetic taxonomy of each fish's binomial nomenclature.

Note: Gyotaku (魚拓, from gyo "fish" + taku "stone impression") is the traditional Japanese method of printing fish, a practice which dates back to the mid-1800s. This form of nature printing was used by fishermen to record their catches, but has also become an art form of its own. In gyotaku, fish sea creatures, or similar are used as the actual 'printing plate'.
