Science is dangerous, they'd always say. But all of those brave Aperture employees don't think it is too dangerous, including Robin.
A young engineer with a mysterious past made their way into one of the most respected and successful companies in the world. Will they thrive there or will Aperture break them down completely? Will they have their coworkers on their side or against them?
And what will happen to Aperture? It seems like even Cave is lacking the ability to run such a huge company. Somebody will have to take his place.

And what will happen after the end of Aperture as we know it?

Heart of a Robot AU is made to answer all of those questions and more. A story made by a huge Portal fan and a non-native English speaker who has never written a book before. I just want to honour the games that changed my life for the better, forever! In this story you will find some of my own theories and headcanons, as well as the answers to some of the questions that fans have about the canon Portal lore. Oh, and a lot of androids. 
I hope you're sitting comfortably, because this is a long ride. I don't know how to stop writing. That's why I hope my readers won't know how to stop reading.

While I do believe that Blue Sky is the BEST fan-fic for Portal 2 out there, and deserves to be canon, I think that this is still a relatively believable Chell backstory. (This is set after Cave Johnson's death, and before Caroline/GLaDOS killed everyone but the test subjects with neurotoxin, and placed Chell in stasis.) Enjoy! This is not a Chelley fan-fic, and doesn't include Wheatley, as this is set prior to the timeline of the first game. I don't own Portal, Portal 2, or the characters in the game; but this story is my own, from my imagination. You've always had an interest in androids ever since you were a child. The very thought that technology could create an intelligent life-form that looked just like a human always fascinated you. You quickly became a high ranking student, at one of the top universities for Android studies. To further your training, you were sent for work experience at Detroit City Police Department, and paired up with Lieutenant Anderson and an android named Connor. As you continue to work alongside Hank and Connor, you soon begin to learn things about androids you never noticed before. You also realize that you are finding yourself falling in love with the one person you are not supposed to fall in love with. 'Purple Hearts' puts a unique spin on the events of Detroit Become Human, showing the story of what is behind the scenes, the true feelings of androids, and the lives they struggle to barely survive on the streets. Throughout the story, you slowly begin to see the world in a different light, and through that, you also learn what it means to become human. Who can you really trust when the humans seem more evil than the androids do? The lines blur between the good and the bad; the human, and the android. --- Genres of drama, action, and romance. It follows the direction of the main plot of Detroit Become Human, but I have added various sub plot lines and characters unique to this fanfiction. There is foul language in this story. This is a work of fanfiction based off the game Detroit: Become Human. The characters in the story are owned by David Cage and the creators of Detroit: Become Human. The concept of Fate, Destiny, The Balance, and Error being the forced destroyer of Au's belongs to the writer @harrish6. They have given me permission to use their idea in my story. That being said, there will be some parts in the story that's directly copied from their story called 'Healing What Has Been Broken'. Keep in mind I was give permission to use it and in no way shape of form am I claiming their work as my own. In this story Error does know about the balance and what will happen if it tips over too much. Error does not like to destroy Au's but does it for the sake of humanity. Error doesn't interact with other people thinking they will just make his job harder. Basically, Error is empty. He still remembers that he was able to feel emotions at some point in time but he doesn't remember what they feel like. Fresh is a parasite who goes from body to body in order to survive. Fresh has never felt emotions in his life he just imitates what he sees and rolls with it. What will happen when destroyer meets parasite? *I wrote this when I was 14. Don't expect much.

*Follows the storyline of Detroit: Become Human* You've been working at Detroit City Police Department for a few years, being in the police force had been you're dream job since you were a child. Currently, you investigated human crimes. Recently, you've been given the task of investigating cases involving deviant androids. The sudden change from investigating humans to androids is going to be tough to get used to, but you knew you could handle it. They also decided to partner you up with Hank Anderson, which surprised you considering he hated androids. You had nothing against androids, unlike you're partner, Hank. You had no reason to hate them, they had never done anything to wrong you. Most of them are actually quite nice, not counting the deviants. Hank had always been like a father to you, and like any other human he would easily get upset and angered, sometimes even lashing out on you. You knew that he never meant any of the harsh words, so you stuck by his side. When you were both assigned to the same investigation, you had both decided to go to the bar to celebrate. Everything seemed fine, until an android walked into the bar. Everyone watched as he approached us. "Lieutenant Anderson, Detective (l/n), my name is Connor. I'm the android sent by CyberLife."
