"If I could only stop time for you," he sighed.

"I can't wait until we can do this all day and not be worried about someone catching us," I breathed.

"Me too," he kissed my forehead.

"Soon?" I offered him a small smile.

He nodded and smiled. "We'll do everything we can to make soon come closer."

Maddie Nixon has liked Nate for quite a while now; after all, they've been best friends since they were in their diapers. Normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but her twin brother remains a barrier. You see, Archer had also grown up with Nate, and Maddie was fairly certain he wouldn't be too pleased with her feelings for his best friend.

And so they decide to keep it their little secret, trying to navigate a relationship while finding a way to break the news to Archer when the time is right.

Will their secret remain a secret or will their stolen kisses reveal the truth before they want it to be out?

His past has changed him from the happy-go-lucky kid he was, to a reckless guy with a smirk for a smile. And he's driving Lauren insane. ****** Excerpt from That Summer "Well I'm surprised," he drawled huskily, playing with a strand of my hair. "You acted like a natural last night." Oh. My. God. What did that even mean? He chuckled at my deer-in-headlights expression. There was no way I would not remember losing my virginity to Jake. Hell, I'd memorize every second of it. "What do you mean?" I asked slowly, my stomach doing somersaults. Please tell me I'm jumping to the wrong conclusion. Pretty please. "Well," he started, a gleam in his eyes. "First, you grabbed the blanket and ripped it right off of me." I blinked at him, a horrified expression on my face. I slapped his hand away from my hair and turned around. Yup, there it was. Lying on the floor, along with my dignity. He continued solemnly. "And then, you climbed up on top of me." Could you die from your face overheating? I waited for my embarrassment to be complete as he tapped his chin, thoughtfully. "Yeah, that's about it." That's it? THAT'S IT? So I hadn't completely thrown myself at him. Just a tad. And the prize for the unluckiest luckiest horndog of the year goes to Lauren Can't Keep Her Hands To Herself Jules. I grabbed the pillow and smacked him over the head with it. Hard.

It started with a kiss and ended with a list. The middle is a bit more complicated. The list of rules is supposed to protect mine and Beck's friendship and stop us from accidentally kissing again. But most of all, it's supposed to protect my heart from getting crushed and keep me from ending up broken like my mom. I've always been great at following rules. But the more time I spend with Beck, the more I can't stop thinking about that kiss and how amazing his lips felt against mine. For the first time in my life, I wish I was a rule breaker. But I can never cross that line. Not with Beck. Not with anyone. Besides, if Beck knew the truth about my life, then the list wouldn't have to exist because he wouldn't have kissed me to begin with. *** Beck: It started with the most amazing kiss ever and led to Willow handing me a list. That stupid list. When she gave it to me, I wanted to shred it to pieces, pull her against me, and kiss her until she realized a piece of paper wasn't going to stop me. Willow's been my best friend since forever and she should know by now that I'm not a follow-the-rules kind of guy. She may think that kiss was a mistake, but she's wrong. Kisses like that can't be a mistake. Willow and I belong together, have since the day I promised to always protect her from the bad stuff in her life. And somehow I'm going to prove it to her. Just like I'll always protect her no matter what.

"How many romance books do you read?" Devin asks me. I shrug. "I like them," I say. I keep browsing, running my fingers along the spines. "So, you like romance then?" he asks me. I nod. "What's your favorite part of a love story?" "I like the very first kiss, but I like the second one even more," I say. I bite my lip and look at him. Oh. My. God. What the hell am I doing? Am I flirting? I think that I'm actually flirting. With Devin. Devin, my best friend. I have officially lost my mind. I should probably stop. But I can't seem to. "Will you grab me that one?" I ask. "I really want to find out if that's true or not," he tells me. I'm too frozen to say anything. I'm too frozen to move or breathe, really. Nate's hand snakes around the back of my neck gently. The rings on his fingers cool my burning neck. "Relax," he whispers, and then he closes the distance between us. 𓍊𓋼𓍊𓋼𓍊 Nate Miller left three years ago.
