Clara was a normal girl, she went to school, had friends, homework and an average teenage life. That is, until the monster showed up. Not only does the monster cause damage to her school and her perspective on the world, it damages her life. 
A mysterious boy appears and tells her what she really is, a Hunter. She and her friends join the Hunter's ranks only to figure out it isn't all fun and killing games. A dangerous predator lurks in the shadows, a creature from their leader's past. 
Although she is only a beginner, she is given the mission to hunt it down and destroy it. But her journey proves more deadly than she predicted. Creatures track her, and danger follows her at every turn. Being as her mother, Kate Argent, is one of the most ruthless and merciful hunters in the Argent family, it came as a bit of a shock for people to see the girl she raised basically go against everything her mother taught her. Her mother is a monster, murdering innocent people and children, simply because of their supernatural nature. Or at least she was. Kate Argent's ruthlessness was her downfall. Her own disregard for the supernatural is what killed her. Artemis, fed up with the life her mother and her family led them to live, took herself and her little cousin out of the poison that is Beacon Hills. She started showing Allison the right way to hunt. She taught her the Argent code is flawed. The code is not "we hunt those who hunt us" , but "protect those who cannot protect themselves" But when Artemis heard about the original hybrid and his wack job family putting down roots in New Orleans, she knew it was time to take action. When they arrive at the Forbidden Island, he's excited to show Angel and the students the tour of the Island, while staying away from a certain area. The Forbidden Island is said to hold a dark past. Angel and her friends leave the yacht and accidentally gets left behind when the yacht leaves. So they have to find a way off the Forbidden Island but it's more difficult than they thought. They decide to go to the area where the dark past took place. When they dwell deeper inside, they discover something truly magical.
