They've never gone to school, never met their parents, and live in a home funded by the government - which made it pretty much a no-brainer that they never lived the proper childhood most kids their age have lived. 

But they certainly didn't know they were extraordinary, either. Not until today, when Emma and Theo discover that they're not ordinary kids. Or ordinary humans, for that matter.
