Daya is one of the last of her kind.
After watching her species massacred and her home destroyed, she and a young boy from her tribe become prisoners of the kingdom of Rodum. For eight years, the two are kept apart as they are studied among other human-hybrid species like them.
When Daya and Lonan come face-to-face once more, it becomes clear that finding their freedom is crucial for their species to survive- to avoid a life of slavery.
