“I warned you about the forest, and what did you do?” He asked, eyes sharp slicing through me with each word.

“I went into the forest.” I replied simply, causing him to tug at his hair his expression a mix of rage and worry. “You could of been killed.”

“I wasn't.”

“You could of. You won’t be that lucky to make it out again. Especially if you’re not with someone.” He sounded exasperated, barely trying to calm down his heavy breathing. Once his breathing returned to normal I actually dared to glance up at him. “Please. Don’t follow me, Aella.”

“You can’t ask that of me, Xander. I’d follow you to the ends of the earth and you’re trying to stop me here.”

I tried to look away, but before I could, his hand reached out, his fingers brushing against my skin as he gently lifted my chin. The touch was soft, but the way he held me in place was anything but gentle. "Do not take my cooperation as weakness, little lamb," he warned, his voice thick with something darker, something dangerous. His gaze bore into mine with an unyielding force, as if daring me to challenge him. I felt the tension coil in my body, and with a sharp, instinctive movement, I smacked his hand away, my pulse quickening, my breath uneven. "Touch me again, and this 'little lamb' will bite your fingers off," I shot back, my voice low and daring, laced with a fire I hadn't meant to show. His lips curled into a dark chuckle, the sound rich and slow, like honey dripping from his tongue. "If you were anyone else," he said dismissively, his gaze trailing over me with casual disregard, "you would have already been dead." ********** For generations, Maeli's people have been trapped within a never-ending forest, bound to a secluded clearing that no one can enter or escape. ❝Thaddeus Wraith had successfully destroyed the fortress within my head and scrambled my senses. Which was strange. How had I gone from fearing somebody, maybe even loathing them. To wanting to feel him against me, the heat that radiated off his body--for his lips to move against mine. I craved the chaos that we had together, and by gods did it intoxicate me to know that I had him. 𝒜𝓁𝓁 𝑜𝒻 𝒽𝒾𝓂. Every damaged, broken piece, every intrusive thought that came into his mind when those green eyes bore into mine. I had it all. ❞ ━━━━━━━━༻❁༺━━━━━━━━ Orion Vale was meant to drown when a storm took him at sea--but instead, a siren's magic spared his life.
