Hi my name is Emily and I am 14 years old. I have 3 little brothers but beside that I have my mother and grandmother by my side too. When I was 3 the closest person to me died, my grandfather. Then when I was around age 11 my parents got divorced. And finally at age 13 going on 14 my closest aunt died. So you could say i've lost some of the people closest to me. My mom had a passion for poetry when she was younger so I guess I sort of inherited that liking. When I was younger I hated poetry and was forced to write it but now that im older I have to learn to deal with these things in school. Now that im older I realized that poetry is not just about ryhming but about feelings, the way people feel inside can hurt them or lighten there world. ok so enough about me lets just get on to the poems.

Why We Laugh (#Wattys2018)
"The laugh cracked loudly into the school's atrium, like a shot of a gun. A quick bullet. A deadly bullet the pierces through flesh and bone. These poems are just some of the little pieces that make up my life. Whenever I get inspired by someone or something, I write a little story about it in the form of a poem. In a way, it helps me express what I have in my mind in a very vague way. I'm not that kind of a direct person, but there are things that are sometimes, better to kept secret. If you asked anyone they would tell you that Tommy's living the dream! He's an internet sensation and has the best friends anyone could ask for. But if you asked Tommy he would say he was far from perfect. Between his eating disorder and his homophobic father he can't help but hate himself. This is made even more apparent when things take a turn for the worst, something that even Tommy couldn't even predict. Will Tommy's friends be able to help him at his all time low or will his overwhelming thoughts get the best of him? Looking back, I really hate how I wrote this. It wasn't really planned and was more of a vent post so dont expect too much lol. A Girl in a Forgetful World
This is a collection of all the poetry I have written. Some sadness, some happiness, and a concotion of both. Poetry is my way to vent and let my emotions flow freely. Release
This is a collection of my writing from the past 7 years. Before I started to write, I was a very lost individual, as are most teens, but I was lost in darkness. I was too afraid to move anywhere at all. I hid in the dark, debilitated by my own anxiety, sadnesses, anger, and hopelessness. I was desperate to be loved and feared it the most, I was a coward, I was self-destructive, I would mentally bend my thoughts to the point of bordering insanity. I was born into this world alone, and got too comfortable with it. Maybe I still am, but a fraction of what I used to be. This writing is extremely vulnerable, and potentially disturbing to others, as all my weaknesses, strengths, obsessions with making every moment sentimental, the sickening desperation I've had, the destructiveness, and the constant brutal reconstruction of my mind. Without guidance, it's been absolute intense chaos. Though, there is beauty in the darkness. Everything can be found in the darkness. You'll find that through my writing, I've somehow slowly become exactly what I've written. A living representation of my writing and what I wanted to be. Without myself even knowing it. A lot of my writing themes are based around nature, or some kind of natural aspect. The imagery I paint with natural metaphors is constant, the animals, just like you and I, the plants, and all other living things. I planted these seeds in my mind, unknowingly at the time, where I now feel the deep dark green jungle pressing at the inner walls of my skull. It's all that I want to consume my mind. There's so much to learn. The magic of nature, and it's infinite wisdom. It's as if I have been on this path all along, and I didn't even know what I was doing, yet my body and mind were passively taking care of me. Giving me and eventually showing exactly what I want, and wanted to become. I have every moment, every instance of suffering, and every epiphany to be thankful for. The Twisted Mind
"I felt as if I didn't belong, And I felt as if i'm not sick enough" Alfie struggles with the concept of food. He loves it, he hates it and just wants to find peace with it and within himself. He wants to make up with his body, his mind but he's lost all control so he's finding it hard to live. Alfie Hailo, a 16 year old swimmer, has been struggling with food since the age of 13. His parents put him in dance class when he was 6 but he was getting bullied as he got older, so decided to quit and choose a more 'masculine' sport.His father also left the family home 2 years prior and has been struggling to understand why. He has amazing friends, and an amazing family who love and care for him dearly but, he doesn't feel this. He feels like he has to be perfect. With the pressure of school, and having to keep up to the social norms of a professional swimmer, it's hard for Alfie to concentrate. He needs the help. And to do this, Alvin helps. Alvin helps him find his worth, take control, and makes his life easier, or so he seems. His best friends, Killian and Ruby, know Alfie inside and out. They know his family life, school life. And this is because Alfie is a simple person. He has never had a detention, nor has he been expelled. He's a straight A student with no history of alcohol or drug abuse. Will they suspect anything? How will Alfie proceed with his excruciating pain. Will he cover it up or will he find the courage to speak up and seek help?Complete

Bonnie and her seven brothers lives changed forever, after the sudden and tragic death of Bonnies' parents, eight years ago. They had to find a way to survive and make ends meet, staying with their uncle and cousins until her oldest brother, Alexander could become their legal guardian. Bonnie has never really 'loved' herself. When she was younger, she would always pick out something about her she didn't like. Whether it was a bruise on her arm, or her slightly disheveled hair, she would be upset and unhappy with her appearance. She has always craved to be liked, loved and accepted. She's now 14 and is starting her first year as a freshman at high school. Though high school isn't going to be easy like it was for her popular, loud brothers. Jealousy. Heartbreak. Bullies. Pressure. Judgement. Adapting to a new change is hard. Bonnie can't quite take it, she gets overwhelmed, and her brain feels too 'busy'. She can't help feeling what it would be like if she wasn't there or if she stayed silent, nobody would notice. She doesn't crave to be a popular girl, or to be eye candy for the boys, she just wants to be known as 'pretty' and liked. Her worst nightmare is to be known as the far girl, or the ugly one. This need becomes overwhelming, and soon her body shuts down, and her mental health plummets. She does some things, things she will regret in the future yet in the moment cures her need to feel alive, it brings satisfaction. Will her older brothers be able to save her? What happens when it all gets too much? They might be able to save her from other people, but can they save her from herself?... The Fake Smile He Wears
No Ships! i do be cringing at this very hard but I'll keep it up for y'all. note that the quality is very questionable and like most people i've reflected on the cringiness <3 The Ancients saw many of their children and grandchildren suffering alone, no one noticing the other's pain. The fake mask, the 'happy' countries wore. The secrets they all hid. The Ancients couldn't let this just happen, they came up with a plan. America was the unfortunate victim and test subject. America is the happy, joyful, always smiling, and loud country, but what if everything they know about him is a lie? A mask no one could see through. The mask no one tried to look through. There was a lot they didn't know about him. A lot he hid from them. A lot he kept inside his cracking heart. Secrets will be spilled, and skeletons will come out of the closet. Feelings kept inside for so long, will come out. The sides of America they never knew of will come out today. The mask will come off today. The mask that's been worn for so long. Will he be saved? What happened to America? Who is America really? How many lies have been told? How many hearts will be broken? Did they ever know America at all? How many friendships will be built, and how many destroyed? How long has America deceived them all? How will they see America now? Will America come out of this better or worse? Types of tears (COMPLETED)
Why do bad things happen to good people? A question that his boy is making himself more then ever this days. From the beginning we see a 17 year old boy, struggling to finish high School, filled up with insecurities, mental health issues, a toxic family home, and impossible standards to live up to. He has learn to not only hate his life, but to want finish it off as fast as possible. Close to finally graduating high school his English teacher, Mr Steve, assigns the class a special progect. "To be able to see life through different eyes, and write about it." For this, Mr Steve gets his class to assist a hospital 3 times a week, and assigns each student, with a patient. This is the moment where this boy meets Royal, a cancer sick 17 year old girl, that has lived in a hospital her hole life, but still finds beauty and meaning in it. Through out the report the boy gets more and more involved in Royal's life, spending unfortunately moments together. But through out the journey he asks himself more and more. "Why do bad things happen to good people?"
