What Tyler doesn't know is that Harrison Wells is her father, while Dr. Wells was launching his particle accelerator Tyler also happened to be in the building causing her to be in the explosion. Eventually she wakes up with these powers and then meeting Barry Allen.

Barry was affected by a lightning bolt from the particle accelerator explosion, putting him in a coma for 9 months. When he wakes up he thanks Dr. Wells for the help and leaves, but when he's outside, he finds out he has super speed. Tori also finds out that she has telekinesis the day that Barry woke up from the coma. Dr. Wells tells Barry about affecting other people with the accelerator and calling them "metahumans".
