Watchers are powerful beings. All hermits live in fear of them, and if one ever came into hermitcraft, it would be killed. 

That's why Grian has to hide his past, and he's running as far away from it as he can. But eventually it catches up with him, and his friends are in mortal danger. Will he reveal his watcher side to save them, or keep his secret and watch them die?

Sam was gone, for good, Mumbo had killed him and he hadn't respawned. He was dead. Grian trusted in the kindness of the world and he opened up, but that was his biggest mistake. Because what if Sam wasn't dead? What if they had been tricked by a simple hack? What if Scar and Mumbo went missing? What if they were taken? Grian would have to find out the consequences of those 'what if's the hard way. A sequel to "Sam's Back", I suggest reading that first if you haven't already since otherwise this won't make sense. A YHS/Hermitcraft fanfic. Angsty. There's some mild Grumbo shipping but it could just be seen as platonic. Also Scar/Cub shipping, but only really at the very end and you can ignore it if you want. Trigger warnings: death loops, permadeath, Sam being Sam, manipulation, self hatred, torture, general angsty stuff. There's a happy ending though! Grian is just a normal hermitcraft guy. He goes around pranking people and having fun, always with a good personality. But then something joins the server, determined to dig into Grians mind and change him forever. Grian starts hearing a voice in the back of his head. It gets deeper into his past, digging out power and an unsettling courage to corrupt things around him. Even though he already had a nag for friendly distruction this is a whole different situation. The voice is telling him to hurt hermits. Change hermits. Kill hermits. NPC Grian has come for revenge, and Grian is finding himself swayed by the voice. (This is not an Evo story although it will have mentions that Grian has been an admin. The watchers have nothing at all to do with this story, just the fact Grian has been an admin and knew some things he has forgotten. This story takes place in season 7. Not all hermits will have matching personalities to the actual hermit. This thumbnail was not created by me, it was created by Maiioz on tumblr. WARNING: Blood, depression, self-harm, death, some cussing, you know all the good stuff like that :) )

Grian's life was shattered into a million pieces a long time ago. So long ago, he didn't know whether it was ever even whole. When he joined Hermitcraft after running away from the Watchers, it was starting to come together, until season eight began and his life was thrown into chaos. The Watchers were there, and he didn't even know if they were good or bad anymore. He didn't know who to be scared of. And he was forced to question everything in silence, finding refuge only in his magic. And unfortunately for him, things don't always go the way he might have expected - not that he really had any expectations, anyway. There is some mild swearing.
