She had to provide for herself, she tried her best. And her effort worked, soon, she became a very successful journalist. She was the editor of the New York Daily, working her way up to be manager. She was the youngest editor in New York, aged only 18. She provided for her family and her living conditions completely changed. She recently had to relocate to Manhattan for a bigger work space. Damon Malaise practically gave his life away to work for his family. He mainly worked at Cafe Si Bon, it had the best pastries, coffees, hot chocalate, milkshakes ... pretty much the best cafe in Manhattan. He worked shifts at other restaurants late at night, he would take any opportunity for some spare cash. His father was far too ill to work, he had a condition where bed rest was his only option, his sister was only twelve and Damon wanted her to get the education he never got. Damon was the only hope for his fa mily. When Adeline moves to Manhattan and visits Cafe Si Bon, she finds Damon interesting. She goes every day just to chat to him, asking how things are going. When she offers to help Damon in his living conditions, it sparks romance between the two.

He didn't know what people would think, and he was scared to be himself. But the younger boy, the one he had fallen for, had taught him to be brave. He had taught him to love again after getting constantly beaten down. The boy with curly hair didn't have it easy, either. So they helped each other. They built each other back up. Now, little over a month later, the boy in the bookstore is holding the hands of the broken boy as he tries to sleep.
