Suilai F'haren knows nothing which goes on beyond the peaks of The Eye and is perfectly content to leave it be. Skilled in the arts of combat and magic, there are not many (she thinks) which can compare to her skill. Until, one autumn morning she encounters a foe of a different sort, a mysterious illness called Ashes. This foe cannot be defeated with martial arts or magic, nor does it have a known cure. Now, Su must travel with her arch nemesis Kaija and Ni'collette, a very powerful High Elf, in hopes of finding a cure. To cure this illness alliances must be made, hearts must be broken and the heartless will awaken once more. But to whom are they loyal? In a land where magic is as natural as breathing, Will dominates and Lous'rife connects all living beings; the Dyu's have chosen a Pathe. May they have mercy on the poor soul forced to tread it. Along the way Suilai discovers her true purpose and what it takes to walk an Avenger's Pathe

When the queen of Mirkwood unexpectedly dies Thanduil is left without a wife, but more importantly his son is left without a mother. The king knows he cannot fill the ruins left by a dead mother so he appoints another woman to take her place, to look after his son when he cannot, and to give him the warmth he no longer feels himself. Inladris is a highborn elf who did not expect this responsibility to be thrust upon her, but she accepts it with aplomb and does her best to not only raise a prince but to give the king a friend she suspects he doesn't realize he needs. This is the story of their peculiar friendship through grief, and how two opposites may or may not successfully raise a child. *This is not a romance.
