Alice Linette. What's there to say? Ask anyone at her school, she's: shy; quiet; good student; kind; attentive. Ask her family and she's: obnoxious; loud; hyper; fun; rude; friendly; caring. Ask her, she's: Boring. That's all she sees. Her life is boring, repetitive, dull, and lifeless. No friends to be with, no one she wishes to talk with, a non-existent love life, and just her books to keep her company. She just leads a day-to-day life, of no interest.
However, a little color finally comes to her life, and it comes in the form of a transfer student. Arthur Kirkland. She finds herself, unwillingly, interested in the curious new student. From his polite demeanor, to his silent behavior, he's just a curiosity she has to investigate.

Her mother was always stressed between being a single mom and dealing with her sister. So the girl used her studies and books as an escape method from the real world.
