Alpha: the chief/head of a pack of werewolves. Clever and cunning. They're confident, intimidating and often associated with a hot, sexy, possessive, badass guy.

Tyler didn't quite fit in that definition. He's fat, antisocial, and what most people would consider ugly. He's even thinking about giving his position as the next alpha in line, to his younger brother.

He hasn't found his soulmate yet, and although he pretends he doesn't care, he's slowly starting to lose hope.
