Things have not been looking good for photographer David Delgado. He's unemployed, struggling with freelance work, can barely pay his bills and his hometown is forever changing (for better or worse) as all his friends and family members have moved. Things get worse one night when he hears something he has never heard from his camera before: BANG!

Somehow, David had his camera switched with a much more powerful camera that shoots fireballs, electricity, an icy mist and gun bullets! Now the search is on for the origin of this elemental camera as David takes the responsibility of a vigilante. Whom can he trust along the way as he battles to become the guardian of Jersey City?

WARNING: this book includes blood, manipulation, cursing, and mature topics (not smut please don't think that). Feel free to click off if any of these make you uncomfortable. ~•~ Something about it was so mysterious about this cave, and I wanted to know more. I entered the cave and saw a red crystal sealed in ice. "Woah." I whispered. The crystal glowed and the ice shattered. I jumped back and fell to the ground, watching as the ice broke completely. My eyes widened and I looked at my hands. "Did I do that?" I asked, but before I could answer, I heard a guard shout for backup as they had heard the ice shattering. I quickly jumped up and stashed the crystal in my pocket before leaving. I crept to the cave the following day, putting the crystal back into the remains of the ice pillar. As I walked away, the crystal fell, causing it to break into a million pieces. I jumped at the sudden noise and stumbled backwards, my eyes widening as a black smog formed around the crystal. "No, no, no, no! Frick." I desperately tried to grab the remains of the crystal, causing one to cut my hand. "Ow! Shit." I whispered, looking at my bleeding hand. "Tch, tch, tch, poor child." A demonic voice said. I looked up and saw that the black smog had two red eyes and a wide, sick smile that was dripping with venom. "I- who are you?" I asked, backing up. "The one who can help you out of here." It said, stretching out a hand. I looked it up and down and before I could answer, its hand plunged into my heart, causing me to scream out in pain. I have sat often in front of the computer, and stared long at the screen without ever writing a word. The synopsis for this project has haunted me since the first person asked me "So, what is it about?", and to this day I have never been able to deliver a straight answer. This book is about a number of things, many of which do not fit evenly into a succinct description. I have tried to make them fit and have found the resulting descriptions ill-representing and dull. Thus, I have decided to go without a description. This book will fade into obscurity no matter what I put here, so I might as well write what's really important. Winter in a city is an especially punishing time. This book comes out of my late nights and early mornings riding the train, and my looking at the window and being able to make out nothing but the blur of the glass. From the outside it may look dead, but certain people know that the inner workings of a city are a true marvel to behold. In writing this, I have tried to capture that marvel and deliver it to you, the reader. This is a book about a city and the people within it. The rest is up for you to read, if you so choose. Pyre lives on whether you experience it or not. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A science-fiction novel, updated whenever there is new material to post. The last cover was AI generated, so I spent some time making a crude cover of my own. For the sake of Wattpad I have divided up the chapters into parts, so everything under "The Glow" is Chapter 1 and so on. If you have read this far into the description, I thank you; you've made it further than mostly everyone before you. I hope you stick around. ⠀⠀

[COMPLETED] "Shoot," Joey mumbles, letting out a string of profanities under his breath. We turn around to find a group of men, all with guns, standing where we just came from, and they look pissed... probably because they were forced to run through this tunnel after us. "Thought you could get away, didn't you?" The man who I saw before asks. His husky voice booms in the hollow tunnel, reverberating off of the dirt walls. His voice sounds familiar, and a realization strikes me. It sounds like the man from my dream. I remember him holding a gun and wearing a blue suit, smiling evilly at me. "Leave us alone," Joey says, sounding dangerous and snapping me out of my thoughts. The levity of the situation hits-we need to get out of here. I look around for a route of escape and thankfully I see a light, literally, at the end of the second tunnel. I let out a small, almost inaudible, gasp and nudge Joey. He looks at me and I subtly gesture with my head to the second tunnel. He glances at it and immediately we are on the same page. His jaw sets and he looks at the group. The man speaks up again, chuckling darkly-a sound I will never forget and will be permanently etched into my brain, "You can thank your father for starting this mess." -------------------------- Liza was a normal teenaged girl, living the average life that an eighteen year old girl should be living. She had good friends, good grades, a happy family, a loving boyfriend, and an overall content life, seemingly having everything a person could ask for. However, when she somehow gets thrown into the mix and is in the crossfires of a brutal mafia war that she has no business being a part of, things spiral out of control and she has to do whatever it takes to regain her freedom. In this hectic adventure of gun fights, torture, bank robbing and intimidating mafia men, Liza has to face it all, putting her average life on the line in order to defeat the bad guys and go back to her normal way of living.

“The beginning of the beginning. The genesis of great things. An origin story.” Paul Pritchard just graduated from college, master's degree in his hand, and ready to start his new life. The problem is...he's already struggling to find a job. With the prospects of living in a basement apartment, eating ramen for every meal, Paul finds the real world a bit intimidating. That is, until a strange man named Nathan David approaches him with a job opportunity with his company: the Wyndham-Hart Group, an organization that has spent decades shielding the world at large of the existence of “persons with powers” – the politically correct term for superheroes. While a handful of Wyndham-Hart operatives are out in the open with their own comic books and cartoon series, like the legendary gun-toting badass Stronghold, the majority of persons with powers walk among us, under the watchful eye of the company – and the conglomerate simply known as The Agency. Under the direct supervision of the beautiful (and sardonic) Quinn Feldman, Paul is thrust into “on-the-job training” as Stronghold's personal liaison. While assisting him in this case, all arrows quickly point to Chapter Zero: a mysterious and dangerous chemical compound that draws the attention of both Wyndham-Hart operatives and the shady characters they're trying to stop. Unfortunately, one such character is Thaddeus Bell, a rogue Wyndham-Hart operative who reappears after living nearly thirty years off the grid, and is now, as it seems, out for blood. With the pressure surmounting, Paul, Stronghold, and the rest of Wyndham-Hart are on a race against time before Chapter Zero is unearthed and falls into the wrong hands...and before someone realizes Paul may be under-qualified for the job.

While his memory fails to tell him how he became this way, he sees that he can make a difference around him. There are plenty of criminals roaming the streets now. But things are different.
