There's something about small towns that makes Mouse shudder. And after living all nineteen years of their life in sleepy Portobello Bay, they've finally reached their limit. Now, Mouse is trying to hold onto what little happiness they can find.
Enter Kaia, an enigma of a girl who seems completely out of place in this town. She is exactly what Mouse isn't: charismatic, full of life, motivated, and utterly in love with the same place Mouse has been trying to escape for years. Also, she's determined to help Mouse start to heal.
As they grow closer, however, Mouse learns that there's more to Kaia than what meets the eye, and that she might be struggling with her past just as much as Mouse. Kaia might be exactly the right person to fill the void in Mouse's life; and, to Mouse's surprise, they may be just what Kaia needs, as well.

Set in a witchy cottagecore town with just a little bit of magic, "cafe saturn" is a quiet indie story about mental health awareness, queerplatonic relationships, healing, and really good coffee. Because not all soulmates are romantic.
TWs include depictions and discussions of trauma, depictions of anxiety and depression, past child abuse/neglect, past transphobia, past borderline stalking and mildly obsessive behaviour, and panic attacks. TWs will also be given before each chapter for anyone who needs it. < 3
I've been told that this book is warm and fuzzy, but that the themes are quite heavy. Please heed the TWs and stay safe.

In this society, everyone has a soulmate.
And the way to find yours is just look.
Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly.
The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle.
Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick.
The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper.
One day though, they feel their tattoos start to tingle.

This book is rated mature because there is a lot of talk of depression and self harm. So if you feel uncomfortable with reading about that.. this book is not for you.
