The City is a flawless place – it’s do what you want, when you want, yet there’s no crime and no inconvenience. They have beaches more sunny and clean than a Jamaican resort’s and mountains taller and more majestic than Mt. Everest. No one has ever even though of venturing into the unknown, otherwise known as The Land. But Aria has never been anything like everyone else. From her dark hair in contrast to the sun bleached blondes, to her pale skin compared to the tanned faces of her friends, it’s obvious Aria doesn’t belong in The City. But she stays, acting like her fun-filled schedule is war. Then she meets Storm. His attitude is like his name – wild, crazy and rebellious. Just like a raging hurricane, you only find peace in the eyes – his are the bright blue of most City residents. Aria and Storm want to escape – and fast. Everyone in the City has their fate balancing on a thin piece of glass… and glass can shatter. Even perfect worlds have their flaws. © Meredith Grace M. 2012 © Cover: Inksplatter Covers on Miss Literati

In a kingdom shaped by gods and ruled by elemental power, one girl was never meant to survive. Ten years ago, a shadow creature slipped through a weakened Veil and slaughtered Aria's family-wiping out an entire Beastkeeper bloodline. Or so the kingdom believes. Aria was found unconscious on the riverbank, with no memory of who she was or where she came from. With only basic magic and a nightmare she can't shake, she's spent years preparing for a future that never quite felt like hers. But grief has a way of breaking things open. As the Sorting Ceremony looms, the pressure to prove herself builds-until her control finally shatters. What follows is a flooded hall, a glowing mark burned into her back, and a truth no one is prepared to face. Because the mark belongs to a Beastkeeper. And those were only stories. Now summoned to a hidden fortress that was never supposed to exist, Aria must confront a legacy buried in myth, a power she doesn't understand, and a bond that should have been impossible. Because the Veil is thinning again. And this time, the shadows aren't waiting at the edge.
