Seventeen-year-old senior Everly Hope Rodgers wants nothing more than a normal year after the traumatic events that took place right before summer vacation. The hope for normal is short lived as her parents have uprooted her and moved a state away and thrust into a big city and enrolled her into a pretentious private school. Unfortunately for her, news of the events that took place had been broadcasted nationwide, and she's left the outsider with a dark past with people hiding from her around every corner. Finally coming to terms with the horrific series of events that nearly left her dead, Everly finds sanctuary in her eccentric art teacher and athlete Garrett Brooks, and enlists the help of her sweet psychiatrist to try and break it down to the root of it all and if it could have been prevented But for a girl who is caught in the grey area between right and wrong and reporters circling like vultures everywhere she turns, can she navigate her way through high school, or more importantly, the rest of her life?

Rain Jones has mastered the art of pretending. A smile here, a laugh there-little tricks to keep people from looking too closely. But Jack Hotchner looks. And then, so does his father. Aaron Hotchner doesn't believe in coincidences. Not when Jack keeps mentioning how Rain "doesn't feel good" or how she "cries when she thinks no one's watching." Not when she flinches at sudden movements or when she brushes off injuries with too-easy excuses. He's spent his career reading people, and now, he can't unsee the truth written all over Rain's face. So he asks. Gently, carefully. And when she hesitates-when her breath hitches, when her fingers tighten around the hem of her sleeve-he knows. She's in danger. And he won't let her face it alone. When her past comes crashing back, when threats turn into action, the BAU will stand beside her. But it's Hotch who stands in front of her, a silent promise in his eyes: She's his to protect now.
