Avalon Isn't What It Used To Be by A_L_untold

My mother says my endless curiosity and my need to venture is a curse. Though, I know she only says that because I'm just like my father; who went out to curb his appetite for new experiences and never came home. Do I feel abandoned? No. How could I? Not when I fully understand the craving... Fae almost never leave Avalon. It's rare, and normally Fae that leave Avalon are forced into exile. Hardly ever do they leave voluntarily. Avalon used to be a vast place of freedom, a sanctuary for persecuted Fae, the Homeland where everyone had a voice. Well... Avalon is not what it used to be... Maybe the Otherworld will be big enough to spread my wings. *** What happens when a Fae leaves Avalon and befriends a Human? Yes, my book is rated mature. Though, it really isn't THAT bad. I really tried to keep it clean. Also, this is a part 1. Part 2 will come eventually.

When nothing is as it seems, it's hard for a 19 year old to figure herself out, let alone an entire kingdom. Join Freya as she discovers a world of mystical creatures and finds out where she fits among them.

Finnian Thysor's younger brother Archibald is a magician. It can often come in quite handy having someone he can turn to for free spells and charms who still owes him for years of brotherly annoyance. However it can just as often cause problems that Finn would rather not have to deal with. Such as when a miscast spell causes Archie to disappear without a trace. And then it isn't long before the magical pleas for help start arriving. So, armed with the name of a beach on the mysterious Arys Isle, Finn sets out to find him. But Arys Isle is a strange place and the people are even stranger. Rem Kashgar Aethelwulf is a werewolf in the world of Valeria. A world of vampires, dragons, witches, goblins, demons, angels, and more. He lives in his werewolf pack of the city of the moon, but something is wrong. His people are sick and dying. A plague of illness is washing over and refusing to leave, despite the most modern medicine and doctors they have. He decided he must go and look for the cure, even if it costs him his life. (This is a short story, and was written for my language arts class)

This is a living book of short stories that will grow over time. It may not all be in this first book of stories, but in follow-on tomes. These stories are all based in the universe of "Pearls of the Mother," the same universe from which the "Duncan and Lilly" stories live. Some of these stories may overlap, and some may be continuations of another, but they are all part of the same universe. I created these as part of my "World Building and Backstory" system, and I've come to love them just as much as the books. I hope you will, too. Every time a question came up while writing one story, I wrote another story to answer the question. I guess it really is true ... For in the greater realm of "Pearls of the Mother" ... each story is another Pearl, and each Pearl another story. :)

Alera lost her mother early in life and was raised by a strict king for a father and the many nursemaids who crossed themselves before touching her. It wasn't until she was of marrying age that she learned why the people feared her. She was canny... like her forest mother. Canny and feared to be fae. The only person besides her father who didn't seem to fear her was the handsome stable boy. He knew what she was and didn't cross himself before letting his hands touch hers longer than needed for helping her to her mount. And on her 18th birthday, neither could deny the bond that dragged them together. But her father had her sold off to make an advantageous match with the neighboring king's sullen and cruel son. Even a kingdom over, the whispers of the canny princess the people feared as fae reached royal ears. But they thought to use her to their advantage...to put fear in their own people's hearts and make them bend the knee.
