Laying at the end of the Forbidden Vale, at the foot of it's towering mountain's, was a cave. Within it was a sight of chaos. Knight's and commoners alike laid across the damp ground, dead and rotting. At the end of the cave sat a young man, hunched over. He had been dead for some time, a wound to his chest that had been left by a blade that had been wielded by one most noble.

As the world beyond the cave and the Forbidden Vale began to waiver, a twist of fate fell upon the young man. The young man awoke from death. He remembered nothing. Though something burned within his eyes. Something that he could not identify nor understand.

The man left his cave, looking out to the open world before him. A world of death and grey skies. But beyond those skies is a land on the brink of war. A sickly young queen tries to manage a kingdom on the brink of collapse. The northern ice mountains ruled by Ancient Half-Humans revolted against their southern rivals. And the Western Lands and islands were stuck in between, forced to choose sides.

Why was the young man resurrected? And what is his purpose in this land of madness?

'They pulled the chair across from me out and sat in it. The tavern carried on when the figure made themselves comfortable. My grip tightened on the hilt of the dagger. They pulled the hood of their cloak off and unclasped it. Their movements were relaxed and unhurried. I ran my eyes over him. He had strange black, swirling tattoos on his neck and long, pointed ears. His clothes were plain. I crossed my arms and sat back in my seat, keeping my eyes on his piercing midnight blue ones. He cocked an eyebrow. "Well?" I narrowed my eyes. "Well, what?" "What's your business here?" "I should be asking you that, considering you silenced a room by being in it." "Fair enough." He paused as the bartender brought another tankard over. "I'm looking for a travel companion." His voice was as deep as the shadows surrounding us. "You're an elf... Don't they prefer to travel on their own?" "Fae," he corrected as he pulled a pipe out of thin air. A black wisp of smoke surrounded his hand as he did so. "But yes, we do. I, however, have had enough of my thoughts being my only company." I nodded. "So?" He raised his eyebrows. I shook my head sadly. "This is something I need to do. Alone." "Alright." He looked a bit disappointed, which was odd, considering we had just met. ' What happens when you're going to kill the Unnamed One and meet a mysterious fae on your journey? Do you trust him, or leave him? And what do you do when you find out what he's been hiding? Iowyn Aedithas is on a quest to save her guild. A quest that could potentially be lethal for her. She's an awfully brave (some would say naive) human to be doing this. Demons have been attacking her guild, and she's had enough. She meets Evaris, the mysterious fae, on her journey and he becomes her travel companion. When they reach their destination, he reveals information that's previously been held close.
