Siren prince Kellin has never bothered with things "on the surface." Humans are slow, and they can't swim deep enough to be anything of interest, anyway.
However, after a close encounter with a group of human scuba divers exploring the reefs off the coast of San Diego, Kellin starts to get just a little bit curious. It's probably a bad idea, but with a beautiful human named Vic showing him the ropes, Kellin finds himself willing to take desperate measures to trade his tail for land legs-- even if it takes giving away his voice to do it.
(elements of Little Mermaid, but definitely not a simple copycat AU. Stick around and see for yourself.)

A Mermaid for the Lonely
A mermaid named Sirène, whose job as a mermaid is to guide those who have died at sea to rest their souls and not be trapped. She typically finds sailors whose ships have sunk, and pirates and convoys alike. Her personality is one of seriousness, and she does not express herself by facial expressions very often. She does sung lovely tunes though, ones of the sea and winds, not ones meant to lure anyone to their doom. She seldom spends time with other merfolk and prefers to be on her own. She is however very curious of the various emotions humans possess and their intensity, since she does not feel these. One day, while Sirène was staying near Pointe de Pen Hir, a dangerous cliffside that plunges right into the ocean. Looking upwards by chance, she saw a human, a man, standing dangerously near the edge of the rocks. The wind blew harshly and she could only watch and wait as he toppled over the edge and feel towards the ocean. She saw no fight in him as he fell. ________________________________________________________________ This is a fantasy story with my mermaid OC that I started making back when I was in middle school. I've used her character to help me through tough times and I am revisiting her. I want to make sure I have a place to remember her story, and make it a happier one than before.Complete

But she'll find out land is not all its cracked up to be. For one, every time she gets wet she loses her legs and sprouts her tail. Her legs don't come back until she dries off. You can bet that causes trouble. Follow Beyoncé on her journey on land while she tries to fit in. Along the way, she'll find friendship, love, and a couple of enemies.
