Siren prince Kellin has never bothered with things "on the surface." Humans are slow, and they can't swim deep enough to be anything of interest, anyway.
However, after a close encounter with a group of human scuba divers exploring the reefs off the coast of San Diego, Kellin starts to get just a little bit curious. It's probably a bad idea, but with a beautiful human named Vic showing him the ropes, Kellin finds himself willing to take desperate measures to trade his tail for land legs-- even if it takes giving away his voice to do it.
(elements of Little Mermaid, but definitely not a simple copycat AU. Stick around and see for yourself.)

Many people believe they aren't real.Tell those people that they're idiots because they are real. Meet Beyoncé Giselle Knowles. She's a mermaid who was sent to live on land by her parents, the king and queen, after an evil mermaid threatened to kidnap her. Beyoncé is super eager to get on land. But she'll find out land is not all its cracked up to be. For one, every time she gets wet she loses her legs and sprouts her tail. Her legs don't come back until she dries off. You can bet that causes trouble. Follow Beyoncé on her journey on land while she tries to fit in. Along the way, she'll find friendship, love, and a couple of enemies. And in the end, she'll have to battle the evil mermaid and make a difficult decision. Go back home? Or stay on land? (Loosely based on the TV shows H2O and Mako Mermaids. I won't survive. I'm sure of it. Strong wind ruffles through my clothes and hardly allows my eyes to remain open. I'm surprised that I'm still standing on the rock and haven't been tossed into the whirlwind. Huge waves crash down upon the rocks making deafening sounds. As it comes towards the rock, it reaches the height of a three-storey building and seems to loom over me for some time, like a monster looking at its prey with hungry eyes, before finally crashing down towards me like a waterfall. COMPLETED I was caught in the net, with no hope of escape. As the net broke the surface, four men shouted in alarm. One called for someone to come up from below deck. He opened the door and studied me. I hissed at him as he approached the edge of the boat. "Let me go, human." He chuckled. "Not a chance, fish. You're my new science project." ~~~~~ Douglass finds himself in a risky situation when he's caught up in a net while swimming back to his cave. He tries to get lose, but only manages to get himself bound tighter in the ropes. Captured by human scientists, kept in a tank on land. Far from his home, scared and alone. Nathaniel works at the marine research center for his uncle. When he finds the siren in a tank far too small to contain a wild creature, he knows that the merman isn't happy there. He's trying to figure out a way to free him. Little does he know, he's not exactly human, and his uncle is hiding a big secret that might change his life. So he gives her two choices: Never speak a word of what happened and go back to whatever life she despised so much, Or Come with him to an underwater city she never thought existed. After choosing the latter in a risky gamble, both her and the boy might be in for more than they bargained for when they discover the city is under attack. Will they be able to save it and the people in it in time, or will following the boy be a big mistake? Those who were taken... They never came back, dragged beneath the waves never to return. Their haunting screams were a symbol of their horrific deaths. Like shadows they lay in wait, the deep blue waters hiding them from view. With sharp claws they attack, Pointed fangs tearing into skin, Eager mouths devouring human flesh. Cally was taken, dragged under the water by one of the vicious creatures. But she was not devoured nor torn apart by ruthless claws--no. She was a captive. ~•~ Water instantly invades her senses. Her eyes sting, her lungs and nose burning. She thrashes, kicks, claws--anything to get away.
