!TWs!: mentions of suicide, abduction themes, swearing

*****

Lilibeth James; aspiring writer, target for insidious villain group, yet still stubborn. Her vow to not talk about the supers was easy, but when it defines her freedom? Good luck.

◇

Lilibeth "Lili" James aspired to be a writer for ages, but reality hit hard when the supers came, and it is all anyone talks about, even decades later. Granted, not every city has glittering superheroes and malicious villains. That was before Lili became the sole target for the infamous supervillain group named Venom Force. Being the esteemed "damsel in distress" for the heroic League of Suns was no help, either. Writing drowned out fluff pieces for newspapers now seemed weak, for the city of Troypierce had always been quite the phenomenon. She had to find a way to get out in the world in her own way. No supers. No villains. Just pure passion.

But when leader Serpent of Venom Force abducts Lili, she should be frightened, right? Well, a supervillain's lair isn't an article that's exactly going to write itself. Writing the one thing she stayed away from, while disappointing, there was only one way to make a quick cheque and many more after in order to leave Troypierce: writing about the supers. Until Serpent has her world crashing down... as this article will determine
her freedom. Skepticism and ambition gets the best of Lili, and as time passes on and the pressure of the outside world grows, she slowly learns less and less about the notorious Venom Force and more about the misunderstood group of anti-villains known as the Anti Villain Villain Club. With confusing emotions, political issues on the rise, and everything is not what it seems, who can you truly trust in a world like this?

WARNING: CONTAINING AMOUNTS OF SASS PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TO MANKIND In the city of NYC--- Ok. Hold up. First of all, New York City. What, are ya gonna assume everyone here knows what NYC is? Anyway, this is about two people. I can almost hear you rolling your eyes. Another cliché teen fiction with a bad boy and a good girl? Nope. This is about superheroes. I can still hear you rolling your eyes. Superheroes. Like in comic books? Like people with super speed and mutant powers? Yes. But this isn't about the fight they have. More about the lives they lead without the masks. But just keep in mind, people who live in the world have all different skin colours. Do not assume my characters are of one unless I state them explicitly. and diversity is welcome here in my novel! Anyhow, back to the story. Ever wonder where supervillains go after their fight with the hero? What about the other side of the story? It's not like they sit in their lair cackling all day and planning how to kidnap reporters. What about the lives they lead? And instead of just focusing on that, what if the superhero and the supervillain knew each other? I mean, can they see behind the mask? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride. And if any of you got any of the references in this description, give yourself a pat on the back. That is a beautiful thing. And if you can name all the references in this book, you truly are a gift to mankind. Fangirl out.
The Starlight Sentinels: The Amusing Story of a Struggling Superhero Team by JGrayDingler

A man, a woman, a boy, a girl, a demon, and an alien, all walk into a bar... THEY FIGHT CRIME! The Starlight Sentinels goes beyond The Watchmen's question of "Who would want to be a superhero?" by asking "Who would want to be a superhero if being a superhero was just another job people needed doing?" The Starlight Sentinels, that's who! They're not your traditional superhero team, and they're not the other guys either, nor are they the grizzled antihero type. Instead, they're just people who happen to work as superheroes in a world where being a superhero isn't so much a call to greatness as it is an eccentric career choice and super villains are just another problem that people try not to think about. Drawing inspiration from films such as Shawn of the Dead and TV series such as the Venture Bros, the Starlight Sentinels was crafted to be an amusing and occasionally action-packed adventure grounded by a diverse cast of humorous but relatable characters. You may laugh at their numerous missteps, but you'll also be cheering for these heroes and heroines hard-earned triumphs as well. Join this comedic costumed cabal in their debut adventure as they fight crime and battle the forces of evil anytime they're not stuck filling out forms for the police, trying to appease their overbearing corporate sponsor, struggling to gain recognition from an apathetic public, or arguing over whose turn it is to do the shopping in this hilarious tongue-in-cheek tale that takes on all things superhero! If you enjoy the first half of The Starlight Sentinels, you can pick up the full book on every major eBook seller, or order a printed copy from Amazon or Createspace.

"It seems like someone set off multiple bombs at the News Tower. Looks like Pyro's work- but we can't be sure. The entire building is on fire, but Soulfire is across the city-" "I'm on it." He said instantly, cutting her off. "Call Charon and Peleus, too. There might be people trapped on the higher floors and we'll need to get them out." Tommy's excitement screeched to a halt at that. "Get Warden, too. We need someone who can breathe smoke to get in there and help us look." Erebus continued, but Tommy wasn't really paying attention. People? What did he mean by people? There weren't any people in the tower- it was nearly 2 am. Why would there be people at a news station at 2 in the morning?? The Villain League would never intentionally hurt innocent people. Then his ears popped, and he heard the screams. Oh god.. What has he done? --- Or: Tommy's a supervillain tasked with going undercover at the Hero's Tower. His job is to gather information, sabotage what he can, get their identities, and get out..But he doesn't expect for people to actually like him. He doesn't expect the enemy to treat him kinder than his own family.
