For a while, Mario has been having the same... strange... nightmares that feel too real to be true. He always seems to hurt someone in the 'mares, and it's almost always the same person. The thought of it makes the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom go paranoid of hurting his friends, especially the one he loves the most.

His strange behavior due to his sheer paranoia causes him to make rash decisions, some he can fix in a flash, and some he can never forgive himself for.

A reason that endangered her, and has now put Mario, Sonic, and their friends into danger as well. And it's not like Bowser, Eggman, or any of their schemes. This threat is difficult to identify, when the only clues lie in nightmares that Kate is having. This is the point of discovery in the tale of Mario, Sonic, and Kate. This is the dark twist in the Tale of the Tale of the Three Heroes.

He begins to explain he's possibly created something that could bring about the Future of all the Kingdom's in the region, but there were some Bugs, Glitches, Etc and needed the Mario Brothers Help to tend to them. When Mario and Luigi insisted they didn't know how to work with Technology, Egadd introduced Mario and Reintroduced Luigi to 'The Pixelater' (Introduced in Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon). A device that would allow Mario and Luigi to enter the Digital world and take the Bugs out at their sources. But of course, they couldn't do it alone...
