A scream from outside cuts off my search, so I close the blinds and run to join my family. Dad rushes away just as I join them, so I stand next to Luke.
Dad comes back with a pistol. "Irene lock all the windows and have someone go with you. Javier you come with me, we're going to help whoever needs it."
"What about us?" Luke asks Dad.
"You take care of Derek and Maeve." Dad unlocks the front door. "And lock the door after us and do not let anyone in unless it's me or Javier."
With that they leave and Irene takes Carmen to lock all the windows, while Luke locks the door.
"I'm really scared." Maeve clings onto my shirt. "Will he be okay?"

Firstly, A trigger warning for mental health/ self inflicted wounds when reading. you're only 18 years old. your name is zoe. you always had a love for the apocalypse but didn't think it would truly happen. and you slowly learn that nobody is who they say they are. Nobody is to be trusted. Things are gonna fall apart, and nobody can save us now. This book is being rewritten again and hopefully is better than the first and second time it was published. It's kind of cringe most of the way. Wrote it when i was like 13-14 years old or something and tried rewriting when I was about 16. Didn't work. Trying to rewrite it again at 20 but i don't think the first two books are saveable. Book three so far however is going well(i believe anyway). The second book has also been rewritten and will be rewritten again. now I'm working on finishing book three.
