Calpurnia Hill has heard these words her entire life, the venom they held never failing to sting. The bastard daughter of Jaime Lannister, the Kingslayer, she represented another oath that he broke. Another instance his head seemed to narrowly miss the executioner's block. Despite her father's unconditional love, the scorn and abuse from the family she was barely a part of have been a constant.

But when war breaks out after the death of Robert Baratheon, the only life she has ever known disintegrates around her. Fearing for her life, she is forced to flee, and in doing so finds her true destiny in the song of ice and fire.
