To everyone else around him Alonzo was always put together. He is kind hearted and overall a good person that you can call on for help if you need it. But underneath the exterior is a person who is broken almost beyond repair from the trauma he continues to face since childhood. As his senior year comes to an end he slowly and surely starts to unravel and self destruct as he faces his crippling and painful reality of his life. As he and his life fall apart he is praying for an outlet so he can save himself and hopefully before its too late.
Serenity is an upbeat and perky girl who grew up in luxury and never had to worry for nothing. Its almost as if her life was perfect with her always being decked out in designer clothes, driving an expensive car most people could only dream about, and probably may never have to work in her life. But like the old saying goes, "what glitters isn't always gold." Behind closed doors she is more like a stranger that is neglected by her own family and left to fend for herself. Besides her friends at school who are more like associates, she always finds herself alone. As she nears the end of her high school career her hopes and dreams for her future are looking slim to none as she continuously prays that there is light at the end of the tunnel she is in.

The matriarch of the family hates her criminal record. Sammy, the seven-year-old, is too clingy, too innocent, and too naive to understand anything. Then there's Jay, the guy she's forced to share a room with. A self-righteous son of a bitch, Jay doesn't understand Carmen and doesn't understand her self destructive way of thinking.
