Ines had worked harder than she should have to build a career in which she knew she would be happy. She couldn't remember a time when she didn't have a goal and a ten-step plan on how to achieve that goal. Now, after having put in countless hours of studying, networking, being the best she could be at every waking moment, and sacrificing any sense of normalcy, she was seeing her dedication pay off tenfold. Law school was simply a means to an end, but winning the prestigious placement of a year-and-a-half-long internship while still in her first year of law school was proof that it was worth it. Everything was finally starting to fall into place: the dream career, a chance to live and work in Europe again, and making friends and business acquaintances that most people could only dream of. Everything was what her checklist and google calendar would quantify as perfectly organized. Everything had a place, a plan, and a priority; it was all perfect until it wasn't.
