River Hawthorne truly believes that his life couldn't get any worse. Since losing his parents and his beloved sister - Gwen - to the Dragonblood Moon's Curse, he's been left to battle the perils of life all on his own. But when he finds himself entrapped by the same soul-binding curse that stole his sister from him, he is taken away, mysteriously, to the Azura Luna Academy: a school established by an underground organization that trains the curse's survivors - the Dragonbornes - to control their magic power and use it for the greater good.

However, River and his newfound academy friends soon discover that something isn't right at Azura Luna. And as they investigate, they come to understand that there is a much darker and more sinister plan behind it all. Will River and his friends ever find a way to escape the academy, and, most importantly, break the dragon's curse?
