A kiss is not all Maleficent and Stephan shared. The love story did not start or end with this.

Maleficent was not going against Aurora from a normal broken heart, she did not curse the child because Stephan decided he rather be king then share love with the fey. She didn't do it because of her stolen wings.
She did it because Stephan and her shared blood a daughter. Whom with her wings he stole their child, her child and sent her away.
Where did she go? Why would he take the jewel of the moors? That is what Maleficent was going to find out!
