What if Bella didn't move back to Forks Washington when Renee and Phil decided to hit the road in pursuit of his career?

After qualifying for early graduation, she's offered a scholarship that grants her means to housing through dormitory living, and she takes the chance. She doesn't leave sunny Phoenix for the dreary Olympic Peninsula like she otherwise would have if she'd had no other option, and she feels better off for it; that is, until a short year later. Before leaving to visit Charlie in California for summer break, as per usual, Renee and Bella receive sudden news that Charlie has been in a grievous car accident under vague circumstances. When it becomes clear that her Mother doesn't know much about the state of his well-being (or is otherwise keeping her from the truth) Bella is overwhelmed with the suddenness of Charlie's mortality- abruptly aware of a creeping dread that any moment could be his last- and she impulsively leaves for Forks despite her Mother's wishes not to go alone. Quickly, her life is turned completely upside down, and Bella loses sight of herself as grief takes over; refusing to leave Forks, even at the behest of Charlie's dying wish, and her Mother's desperate pleas, Bella finds herself alone and quickly losing her mind in the very town she vowed never to return to. And, even with Charlie's final words ominously eating away at her mind, she never could have anticipated all the discoveries that lay under the vast gloom of Clallam County, hungry for her to know the truth...

Loretta Claire Dalton-Lettie-Claire to the few who get close enough to matter-came to Forks, Washington, to escape the stories that raised her. Back home in Hickory Grove, the old women always said some hungers were curses, that loving the wrong thing could hollow you out to the bone. At twenty-one, she's already seen enough to know they were right. She has no interest in the supernatural-no interest in anything that smells like fate. Teaching home ec and herbology is supposed to be safe. Ordinary. Until the night she meets Embry Call. One drink. One dance. One reckless moment that should have ended by sunrise. But fate has a cruel sense of humor-and some bonds don't care if you believe in them. Embry never wanted this either. He never asked to be tethered heart and soul to a woman who won't let him in, whose sharp tongue hides the same bone-deep longing that keeps him awake at night. But imprinting doesn't ask permission, and the pull between them grows harder to fight. She tells herself she can outrun it, that she can shut the door on destiny and never look back. But some threads don't break. Some stories refuse to end unfinished. In the dark of the pines, between old magic and new desire, Lettie-Claire will learn the hardest truth of all: What's meant for you will find you. And it will not let go. She despised her lankiness, clumsiness, and overall mindset on life- the girl often romaticized and thought, as well as wrote over and over again about how she never thought about how she would die, but at the same time she did. Summer was almost like her in a lot of ways- the paleness being a factor or similarity, as well as the dark hair, however , she did everything she could to get rid of that factor the moment her mother signed custody over to Renee by dying her hair plaitnum blonde. With her own secrets, and her own abilities, Summer was happy to go to Forks where she could be alone in her own world with the stars that she made. The moon and the stars were her family... and Jasper. Jasper Hale is a vampire. That's new to Summer considering the fact that although she did want to die, she didn't want to die with that way. But his family seemed more interested in her care than they did harming her... which was something more than she ever had gotten from her own family.
