When Earth falls under attack from creatures that emerge only at night, humanity is left with only one choice - to build a fortress and hide.

Amara, the daughter of a military officer, has never seen one of the creatures. While the rest of the world is fighting to survive, Amara is kept away from the chaos and brought to the fortress almost immediately.

At first, the fortress seems like the safest place on Earth. But the longer she stays, the more she realizes that safety here comes with a price.

Every resident is expected to contribute to the future of the human race. There are rules everyone must follow, and those who refuse face severe punishment. In a place where humanity is on the verge of extinction, even something as personal as love, marriage, and the choice of who to spend your life with can become a matter of survival.

Amara never expected one of those rules to decide her future, or that she would be bound to a man she barely knows. Mark is one of the men tasked with enforcing the very laws Amara has come to fear. But neither of them expected that following those laws would force them into a relationship neither of them chose.
