Ever since Shinsou got his quirk his parents would put a muzzle on him so he couldn't talk or use his quirk. If he even talked he would be punished even if he didn't use his quirk. He was raised to hate his quirk. And himself. When he met his childhood idol, Erasurehead he was soon able to learn that his quirk wasn't bad.
His parents didn't know he talked in school. During the day when parents were able to visit that school Shinsou didnt know and was talking the whole day with his friends and peers.
His parents found out and in open daylight in the middle of the school started hurting him.
This is where Erasure steps in and beats some biodad ass.
Later in the year, Shinsou was surprised by something Aizawa and Hizashi gave him
