"Your parents are dead." Who knew id ever hear those words directed to me? Definantly not me! The day I heard those words was the day everything changed, the day I became an orphan, the day I got emotionally shattered, emptied out, that was the day I got sent away like some stupid unwanted pest. But most importantly I learned what the world was.. I learned what it could do.. and what the people on it could do. When I was sent to an orphanage I knew I didn't belong there. I was a different person. I was different from them and I was different from the old Skylar everyone knew.. ----------------------- So Skylar Fay Carters was sent away from her home.. She never knew until then who and what was in the world. Meeting new people that don't want her over and over again has its effect eventually. (Prequel to Clair de Lune) "We're born to believe the opposite of different is normal, and vice versa. Well, I'm the opposite of both." I lost my parents just before my fifteenth birthday. The circumstances were deemed accidental and it was swept under the rug. Truth is, someone covered up the whole situation and I was sent somewhere I knew no one would find me. I was swept under the rug too. Critter Ridge Orphanage is an old building placed in the pines somewhere in the state of New Jersey, run by a kindly woman and housing a family of others like me. Boys and girls all different in their own aspects. They didn't like me and I didn't like them, which was fine. Miss Huld, the owner, seemed to like me enough and that was all I needed. Things changed, though. They found a dead body on our property and everyone scrambled to lock the doors and bar the windows. The normal kids at school all started to edge away from us, from me in particular. They called us witches and devil worshippers. They were scared they might be next. I couldn't keep my nose out of where it didn't belong and then everyone was involved in the mystery. There's ghosts around every corner in this house, and if we don't figure out what's wrong here, we might just become the next ones.Concluída

These new 'evolved' humans, or 'evos', were everything they could have hoped for--strong, and fast, and smart. Practically immortal, too, so what was the problem? They were born without emotions. Maybe this doesn't sound too bad to you, but our emotions? They're what make us human. What happened next was kinda inevitable: the Evos took over. There are two strands of DNA--get one, and your set for life. Get the other, good luck living to see past your sweet sixteen. And if you are one of the crazy (or brave, depending on who you ask) people who dares to bring a child into this world, you could give them the best, longest life ever, or doom them to an early death after a suckish life. So, yeah. Our world is screwed up. And we can't go to G42 for a solution, because as soon as the Evos realized the possibilities, they slaughtered everyone who might know something and blew up the facility.
