Following an unexpected accident, twenty-three-year-old pianist and composer Dominic Yousef thoughtlessly abandons his career in favor of spending his time locked alone in his New York City apartment. Evie Stewart, student in her final year at the Ailey School of Dance, is thus met with reluctance when she and Dominic are tasked with working together to compose a song for Evie's final solo performance, an event that will determine her future in theatre. The two then spend the next few months by each other's sides, with Dominic learning to reconcile with his own pain and Evie trying her best to convince him that good things can actually last.
