" I saw him leaning against the wall, cigarette in hand. The air around him had taken on a deep color, and the heavy smell of smoke made its way to my nose. A sharp gust of wind blew cold, dry air into my face. I subconsciously tugged at the sleeves of my sweater, covering my hands.
'Haven't seen you in a while.' He mumbled, taking a deep breath from his cigarette.
I noticed his posture tensed slightly, so I copied him, crossing my arms. I walked over to him and leaned against the wall. 'I was,' I started. 'I was busy.'
'Busy doing what? You never go to parties, you quit your job last month, and we didn't get any homework this week.'
I sighed and shifted my legs, balancing my weight on the leg furthest from him. I guess even he can tell when I'm lying.
'You can't lie to me, sweetheart. I've lied enough in my life to call anyone else's bluff.' He continued. He stood up from his leaning position, and turned toward me. 'So. The truth.' He waved the cigarette around in the air. 'Spill.' "
