Everyone has their own way of dealing with loses. Emily Fleming dealed with them differently each time. Each time she became stronger. Each time she stood up and started running. Each time she needed someone to rely on and spend time with; she knew that it would hurt just as much when she would be separated from these people who stuck by her side when she needed them. And that stopped her from getting close to people. The less she cared, the less it would hurt. Or so she thought.

Emily Fleming is a smart teenager, who likes nothing more than reading books.
The first thing people usually notice about Emily is her taciturn personality, closely followed by her chocolate brown eyes.
She is famous for her natural beauty and fashion sense. She proves the stereotype, of girls like her as the "mean and popular girl", wrong.
Being raised in an abusive household had impacted Emily's social skills so much that she has only one friend. Her mother is ill and Emily doesn't even know what it is that has weakened her once abusive mother. She wants her mother to recover more than anything else.
Her only friend and best friend -- Charlie -- might not be as trustworthy as Emily thinks she is.
The past she wants to forget so bad keeps knocking on her door too.
Her life goals include finding the right man for her. A loving and sweet guy who won't be afraid to be open and honest.

Book 1 of the "Used to Be" Series Scarlett Fisher: the school's resident mean girl. Beautiful, smart (but doesn't let people know), charismatic, confident (or at least that's what everyone thinks.) The truth is, she's scared, Scared that one day people will see past her smile and charm, and see the person she really is on the inside. Scared that someone will remember who she used to be. ~•~ Now I know I seem like a bitch, and your probably thinking I'm your stereotypical mean girl, but I wasn't always like this, back when high school first started. I had a best friend who I thought I would be friends with forever. I was shy and timid, and I was foolish enough to believe what people told me. Back then everyone knew me as Arora. After the incident I decided to stop going by my first name, I had also learned that being mean, and not taking anything form anyone was the only way to get people to treat you with respect. ~•~ Arora Fisher: the girl most people didn't notice until they needed help with homework, the girl who was voted most likely to disappear and no one would notice. The girl who her believed in the good in others, who wanted to just give people a chance, no matter how many red flags. The girl who was lost to tragedy. ~•~ "We'll be broken together." He try's to smile, but he can't manage it and I nod, knowing how much pain he feels. "We'll be broken together." I whisper, after that we sit there, in an empty silence, neither of us wanting to be the first one to speak again, because it feels off, like the sound of our own voices might somehow break our hearts more.

"Her troubled eyes held fire. The kind of fire that was capable of burning me to ash." ***** I grabbed her chin with my free hand, making her look at me. "I hate that I don't know you. I hate not being a part of your life, like I was before." I leaned a little closer, as her intoxicating scent filled my lungs. "Trust me, I can't hate you, no matter how hard I tried." "So you have... " It came out as more of a question than a statement from her as she looked at me with her big blue eyes. "What?" I frowned, dropping my hand from her chin and grabbing her hand, instead. "You have tried hating me then?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. This time it sounded more like a statement than a question. "I have." I sighed, dropping my head in shame. "And it made me lose the most important person in my life." ***** One night. What harm can one night do? It can change lives. Turn best friends into enemies. Turn someone's life upside down. Emily Waters and Ryder Green, were inseparable, joint to the hip, always had each others back and loved each other behind the best friend facade. But one night changed it all. He thinks he has changed for worse but what he doesn't know is that Emily has changed for the worst. Three years later, what if the girl is back, with baggage that she doesn't think anyone could handle? What will happen when they meet? Will the sparks ignite again? Emily Willows longs for passion, but only with the man of her dreams: the brilliant and dashing Edward Jones. If only her oblivious, dreaming neighbour can stop with all his gentlemanly-ness and just pin her into the nearest solid obstacle available. And then, perhaps encircle her whimpering body into the solid rippling confines of his warmth to show her the greatest pleasure of being alive and breathing, and moaning beneath his- But no, he would not. He could not-he would not even want to. As they've been best friends for, well- ever. And life as Emily knows was already over when the fates showed her the blandest stars in the already sinking cargo of her unrequited love life- by producing the gorgeous product of her gender, as opposed to her own mediocre Tomboy self, the one who'd bring shame to even the finest cream of their species. Lara Williams. It was hard to pretend not to predict what happened after she crossed paths with Edward and yet even harder to pretend that the man of hot blood, desires and virility such as him would not succumb to her charms, and even go as far as to fall in love with her. While it was no secret Emily would rather run away than to stay by Edward's side as a supportive friend as he sees her to be, or rather expects her to be, it becomes extremely challenging for her when he provides her to bear the responsibility of their friendship by asking her the biggest favour he could ever ask. The one favour she was sure no friend would ever ask their own. The one she was sure to lose herself to. The one she knew she shouldn't say yes to. But it would indeed be the one to make her crazy all the way. Oh, dammit, all to hell. __ [ 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 ] ➵𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 "𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐞" 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐲'𝐬 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟗, 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐇
