But it turns out, he's not the only one: someone else can touch her too, someone that claims her as his Mate. "Once upon a time there was a dragon that only knew one love, a phoenix." She laughs at me again. "The phoenix was kind, full of compassion. She could see the corruption in the world knowing that eventually the dark would consume the light. The dragon was her natural opposite, ferocious and vengeful. She was his light, but the world needed her. A chief came to the phoenix worried his people would be killed by the evil in people's hearts. He begged the phoenix for help, but because of her innocents in being a phoenix she could not help in her current form without being corrupt herself. So, she did the unthinkable. She abandoned her only love to bond with the chief's unborn daughter. Giving the village a change to preserve goodness, for not just themselves but for the rest of eternity. But the phoenix would not be strong until the human that possesses it was. The phoenix was killed before reaching her full potential, but the phoenix was born again. A man that had fallen in love with the girl sought out the phoenix's lost love knowing he was the only one on the earth that could morn the innocence the world had lost. The beast grew fond of the man and struck a bargain that if the man would accept the dragon, the dragon would infuse himself with man giving him the power to save the phoenix. The man being human would eventually grow old and perish, so the man agreed that not just him but the bloodlines to follow would become vessels for the dragon to preserve itself eternally to save that which he loves. The bloodlines were separated through the ages leaving the phoenix helpless and the dragon bitter. Then one day, a green haired city kid that was yet to find his dragon found his phoenix in English class and stole her first kiss."

44 parts Complete Mature

What if everything you knew about yourself was a lie? Mildred "Mills" Millhatten had a good life: close-knit family, fantastic friends, decent grades and even a not-totally-annoying kid brother. You might say it was the best kind of ordinary. So nothing could have prepared her for being taken and cast into a strange, vicious world that she didn't know existed and has little hope of understanding. As a Bleeder - one whose lifeblood feeds the Nosferatu - her continued survival hangs ever in the balance. The creatures are keeping her alive because they believe her blood has mystical properties. Mills fears what will happen when they realize they are wrong. If she hopes to survive and discover who she truly is, she needs an ally. She needs to befriend the mysterious boy who's been secretly visiting her cell, even though he's destined to become a bloodthirsty monster. Because she lives in their world now, and if she doesn't do something fast, she's going to die in it too.
