It begins with the death of a king and the destruction of a village. A familiar dark power that had caused so much devastation before, known as Auslus the Veil, is alive and settling over the land of five kingdoms once more.
Levi has always craved adventure and the land outside his kingdom's walls. Astrid has always been content with living within the safety of her village. Both from rival kingdoms, they had never expected to meet.
But when the two are forced to put aside their differences to find and put a stop to Auslus's wrath, they discover just how much they did not know about themselves and the world around them. With a dark power slowly killing Astrid, she and Levi must fight to survive for the things they desire most.
