Hermione finds herself out of place after the war. Really out of place. ~The students of Hogwarts have returned for their Seventh Year that they were unable to attend, a year prior. Ron and Harry, getting ready to finish their Seventh Year and become Aurors, like they planned. After Hermione turns down Ron, for feeling wrong about being with him, she feels alone. Scared. Out of sorts. But she isn't the only one. Draco Malfoy sits at the other end of the Great Hall, by himself, surrounded by the other Slytherins, all avoiding him except for Theo Nott, Blaise Zabini, and Pansy Parkinson. The other death eaters. But Malfoy doesn't seem to notice, too busy staring into nothingness, with grief. Hermione cannot help but stare at the poor boy who everyone hates. Who she hates. But she doesn't feel that way when she's looking at him. All of a sudden she realizes his composure has broken, staring back at her.~ Will she invite in the enemy of her childhood? Will she see past it, as he is the only one who understands the pain she's enduring?

The War is won, and Hermione Granger is back at Hogwarts as an Eighth Year, feeling reckless and determined to shed her prim bookworm persona. Also returning is Draco Malfoy, universally hated but determined to restore his family's name. Hermione's hopes for a quiet school year are quickly dashed as she contends with mischievous First Years, killer plants, enchanted hair accessories, a totally inappropriate Moaning Myrtle, renegade Death Eaters, a nice vampire, a poorly named study group, a depraved party, and mysterious, threatening blood messages on the castle walls. We have redemption, partial redemption and (sadly or hilariously) no redemption at all. Throw in a snarky, disturbingly attractive Draco with his own secret agenda, and we have a very slow-burn Dramione with a side of who-dun-it. COMPLETE!

Draco met her, the day she moved in, but for a quick glimpse before his father became suspicious once again. From then on, he wrote letters to her, and she wrote back every time. Draco even wrote back from Hogwarts, as well as keeping every single letter in a box under his bed. But half way through the fifth year at Hogwarts, she received a letter, this time from Professor McGonagall. Utterly confused, she attended the school, but something seemed strange about this new girl, everyone seemed to know who she was, besides Malfoy himself. She was feared by many, and by which she was feared the most by, Harry Potter. But why?
