Mature
After three weeks of her high school sweetheart strangely acting like the biggest asshole towards her, Juniper's boyfriend breaks up with her and seemingly that's the end of that. Embarrassed, heart broken, and unsure what to do, Juniper says nothing to her friends about the breakup, not three days later when Abel makes it official by dropping off everything she ever gave him, and not two days after that when they're forced into each other's proximity for their friend group's weekly game night. Strangely enough, Juniper finds out that Abel has ALSO not said anything to his friends about the breakup.

The biggest reason? Abel's best friend just so happens to also be Juniper's big brother. What would Hayden do once he found out about their breakup? Would he and Abel still be friends? Would Juniper WANT them to still be friends? They'd been friends twice as long as Juniper and Abel had dated. Hayden would drop Abel in a heartbeat for his sister, but he would be just as heartbroken as her. She didn't want that. But she didn't want to be stuck seeing Abel all the time after what he'd said to her either.

Juniper agreed to not tell Hayden about their breakup until they were both ready. But that meant, they'd have to still act like a couple- like the couple they were before- in order for Hayden not to find out.

As the 'pretending' goes on, and neither one of them seems closer to being 'ready', both Juniper and Abel start to wonder if Hayden is the only reason the other person won't let go.

"But you could have gotten hurt," I murmur softly, hanging my head and feeling my shoulders drop, the tension seeping from my body. "No. Stop," She cuts me off sternly but tenderly, "Don't talk like that, Reece. I'm okay, you're okay, we're okay," She speaks softly, reaching her hand up to gently brush her thumb over my cheek, just under the cut that's there. "We're okay," I repeat, taking a small step closer to her. She nods with a small smile, moving her hand down from my cheek and instead placing the palm of her hand on my chest, right over my heart. I know she can feel how fast my heart is beating. I just don't know why it's doing that. ~ Reece Carter is the bad boy of Northwood High. He smokes and he fights. Warning: Mature Content. Outside, it was cold and breezy, with those familiar night stars that twinkled above us years ago. We walked side by side along the little path that ran across the gigantic grassy park at the center of campus. I held my breath every time my swinging hand brushed his, hoping to feel his warm palm in mine again. I just wanted more with him, but I knew it was wishful thinking. So I buried it. I buried it with the silence and the distant looks. I desperately wanted us to go back to being friends, before all the feelings showed up, before he embarrassed me in front of half the school by dismissing any chance at us being together. ~o~ Evelyn Martinez has had her heart broken exactly once, by Liam Saunders. But that was over a year ago, so it shouldn't bother her when she sees him with his best friend, Mason Van der Gelt, in the busy dining hall on her university...right? Her best friend, Harper Green, decides to take the situation into her own hands by fulfilling the promise she had given Evelyn the year before, that if she ever met him, she'd break his heart. An eye for an eye. Operation Dickbag's Heartbreak. Yet, as the plan proceeds, Evelyn starts to date Mason, almost falling for his charm and sincerity. Almost.
