The issue of Afghanistan has been a bone of contention amongst the states of civilized nations since the colonial era, however, in the later half of the 20th century it emerged with a new threat to world peace after USSR invaded the country under the agreement of friendship for 40 years between both the USSR and Afghanistan. The purpose was to keep the April revolution 1978 in Afghanistan flourishing but the West reacted badly to such a Soviet strategy. In fact to Moscow it was urgent to foil USSR encirclement at the central Asian corner. And thus it presence in Kabul did that wonder. The consequences of such an act been terrible as the world has been watching an unending imbroglio developed out of the issue. In this respect History watched the unilateral withdrawal from Afghanistan of the Soviet forces w hereafter the regime at Kabul did succumbed to the resistance forces who on their entering into Kabul brought a civil war and emergence of Taliban as on the turn of the century we experienced 9/11 whose master mind was found in Kabul and so the US forces went for him and the stalemate is yet not over.
The Question is if all such a tragedy was avoidable before getting worse? I have the answer 'Yes' and I defend it with signing of the "Geneva Agreement' Between Afghanistan and Pakistan with USSR and USA being its enforcers but Islamabad did like the agreement as USA was least interested too. Let us see what was in the agreement that could have save the world from further warfare?
