vance auclaire is not from here. he lived in france for the first 14 years of his life, until he is forced to move in with his father in america after his mother suddenly lost custody of him.

vance is now forced to go by vance hopper, and be around people who only speak english; a language he doesn't speak. he feels so confused. he just wants his mother and old friends back.

but then he meets bruce yamada. lucky for vance, bruce knows a good amount of french. he gets to know vance, and patiently teaches vance english. it's alright at first.

but then he falls in love. and he isn't sure how to communicate that in a way that won't confuse vance.
