10 years ago there was a horrible bombing at a charity fundraiser led by the old king and one in the new circus sponsored by the royal family.. The bombing killed the king, many rich people, commoners, Kayla's parents, and killed Elaine. There is now a looming threat of an invasion from another country (Estar), who have spies in Theilia (country were bombing took place). Kayla Dennis, aged 24 has been on a case where the victims are all wealthy and loyal to the crowned king, but are murdered horribly. Worst of all they have all been killed by the powerful assassin who leaves behind the royal families' dahlia with each kill and leaves behind their signature on the crime scene with blood.
