Masato is a scholarship student at Yukinaga Boy's Academy. A member of the archery club in excellent academic standing, Masato dreams of graduating to become a civil engineer. However, by his second year of high school his life takes an unexpectedly drastic turn. He quits archery, and his frequent absences and falling grades makes him at risk of losing his scholarship. One fateful night however, the reason behind the sudden changes in Masato is revealed to five of his classmates.
The reason being his infant half-brother, Eiji.
Satoru, Ryouma, Hikaru, Akira, and Kazunari are the most popular students at Yukinaga but also the ones with the worst reputations. When they see their classmate with a baby, they don't know what to think of the situation but they feel empathy for Masato's situation. Together, with the help of Masato's best friend Koji, the group decide to give their assistance to Masato in caring for his brother so he doesn't get kicked out of school.
While Masato is surprised to suddenly become friends with the popular kids, he is also apprehensive about being around them. Satoru, who is the leader of the group of friends, is someone who Masato has harbored feelings for since his first-year of high school. Since he is uncertain of Satoru's sexuality, while also trying to come to terms with his own sexuality, Masato is desperate to hide the feelings he has for the other boy. But what are Satoru's feelings? Moreover, what is going on in his life, and in the lives of his friends, that has resulted in their juvenile behavior? Is there anything-or anyone-who can help any of them?
I Am Big Brother is the first book in an episodic fourteen-story long series of the same name.
